40 Acre Rock Fall Hike
What a spectacular day at Forty Acre Rock! We are grateful for the opportunity to lead our first hike with 3SE Adventures, and Forty Acre Rock Heritage Preserve was the perfect inaugural place. We explored the granite outcrop, bottomland hardwood forest with its waterfall and awesome cave, the pine forest and the transition to Piedmont, and really took our time enjoying the special aspects of the Preserve, such as trees loaded with stunning Turkey Tail Mushrooms, all sizes of snails and cocoons nestled in leaf litter, Christmas Ferns, tree identification (see the beautiful bouquet of leaves and lichen) and so much more!
It was a joyous day that we will cherish always, and we look forward to future adventures within our incredible community!
Candle making class 3SE
Just in time for holiday gift giving, we are thrilled to welcome Beth with Mountaintop Bath & Body, who will teach us how to make TWO beautiful all-natural long burning candles which will be perfect gifts, or gift one and keep one! Our first two classes with Beth have been super fun fan favorites, and this class will include all the holiday trimmings to create giftable, handmade, one-of-a-kind candles for your loved ones.
Three Sisters Essentials will provide great snacks and drinks, and you are welcome to bring your favorite sips (wine, tea)! The class price includes all materials to make two giftable candles plus beautiful holiday "wraps" so your candles are gift-ready!
The class is limited to 15 participants, and you can sign up in person at the shop, via email at [email protected]

Plans are underway to be announced
the first week of November! Who loves to knit and hang out with cool folks? Or have you always wanted to learn? Our beautiful 3SE Team Member Kathie and Danielle, a local lover of all things knitting, are spearheading plans which will be announced the first week of November!
All skill levels will be welcome, and we look forward to an opportunity for 3SE to serve as basecamp for awesome gatherings the community can enjoy and learn from each other!
40 Acre Rock Hike November 12
We hope
you can join us on Saturday, November 12th at 9:00 am for our Forty Acre Rock
hike!
To kick
off 3SE Adventures and exciting plans for 2023, we are offering this free
guided hike to experience one of the most unique Heritage Preserves in the state,
featuring the majesty of the granite outcrop, pine and bottomland hardwood
forests, waterfalls, caves, an awesome beaver pond and so much more. While the
granite outcrop itself is approximately 14 acres, the Preserve is about 2,965
acres and serves as the perfect example of where the Sandhills and Piedmont
regions of the state meet. The diversity of plants and wildlife is second to
none!
The plan
for the day is to meet at Three Sisters Essentials at 9:00 am, then caravan
about 32 miles north to Kershaw. We will make one stop at the gas station
closest to the Preserve for a restroom break, and then head to the lower
parking lot of the Preserve to start our hike. There will be a lunch break, and
we ask participants to bring a bag lunch, plenty of water and snacks, plus
sunscreen and other necessities for a day in nature. With plenty of time to
explore this beautiful place, we anticipate closing the day between 2:00 - 3:00
pm. *For those who would like to join us, we have a tradition of stopping by
Creighton's Creamery in Kershaw on the way home for the best ice cream on the
planet!
PLEASE
NOTE: This is a Moderate-rated hike, and we anticipate walking several miles
over the course of the day. There are no restrooms at the Preserve, but plenty
of pink and blue bushes (haha)! Each participant will be required to sign a
Hiking Liability Waiver.
